We are seeking an Indirect Tax Manager to join a fast-paced global tech business. You will be a key indirect tax specialist within the team and will be responsible for owning and driving significant projects that have a real impact on the business.

The Opportunity:

WiseTech is a fast paced, profitable and high growth tech company. Head quartered in Sydney, Australia with operations in multiple jurisdictions, there is no other Australian headquartered group that has a global profile and growth trajectory like ours.

Wisetech’s Tax Strategy & Advisory team is responsible for supporting business growth. It is at the front end of key business decisions and is often the one driving business change. The team has a number of exciting and value-add projects that require another dedicated team member to come on board to help with.

We are seeking an indirect tax specialist with manager experience to join the business (you could be a manager in commerce or a senior manager with a professional services firm). You will be a key indirect tax specialist within the team and business and will be responsible for owning and driving significant projects that have a real impact on the business.

You will be working with creative individuals who have fun and don’t take themselves too seriously.

This is a genuine role where you will be able to help shape the indirect tax function at a global business and add value in a short period of time.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Lead and manage multiple value-added indirect tax advisory projects to support business objectives.
  • Coordinate and oversee GST/VAT/indirect tax audits on a global scale.
  • Drive technology implementation and enablement initiatives, including ERP and GST/VAT/sales tax specific tech rollouts.
  • Provide oversight of the global indirect tax compliance process, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Overseeing external advisor activity in relation to indirect tax.
  • Reviewing changes in indirect tax landscape and making recommendations to the business.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive value-added projects.
  • Helping mentor and develop more junior staff and working across tax disciplines when required.

In order to be successful in the role, you will have:

  • At least 8 years indirect tax experience, mainly in GST and/or VAT, having gained it at the professional services, corporate or government sectors.
  • An accounting, tax or law background, with in-depth knowledge of indirect tax procedures and tax legislation.
  • Experience with engaging with senior stakeholders, including being able to communicate complex tax-related information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment – you can work independently and move projects forward, but know when to seek guidance and advice from team members.
  • Experience working in a global role in the software industry would also be seen as desirable, but not essential.

Join us and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our global business while making a tangible impact in a short period of time. To apply, please submit your resume, or reach out to our talent team for a confidential discussion with no obligation.
