Milton Keynes, UK, March 5, 2013 — CargoWise®, a global leader in technology solutions for logistics service providers (LSPs), announced that UK-based freight forwarder Simarco has expanded its use of ediEnterprise technology in order to boost productivity and become more tightly integrated with partners and agents.

A customer of ediEnterprise since 2010, Simarco invited CargoWise to participate in a competitive tender process to find a technology supplier for its increasingly important warehousing business at the beginning of 2012. Established almost two decades ago, CargoWise has expanded rapidly in recent years, growing its customer base by 33 percent in the last 12 months, with clients ranging from some of the world’s largest global logistics operators, to small regional agents.

As a result of this expansion, CargoWise users now hold more than 90,000 licenses across a customer community of 4,500 sites in more than 85 countries, making it the ideal partner for the rapidly growing Simarco.

“We are constantly growing both in the UK and overseas, and we needed to be certain that we are able to maintain our high standards of efficiency and customer service by providing services in the manner which clients now expect,” Simarco Supply Chain Director Trevor Scott said. “Technology is crucial in helping us deliver that, along with the fast and transparent access to data which clients need. The WMS module within ediEnterprise not only met our requirements on all those points but provided us with a scalable platform which will enable us to continue to achieve our objectives as our company expands well into the future.”

This recent adoption brings the total number of ediEnterprise users in Simarco to 90, spread across five offices. According to Scott, the efficiency gains from ediEnterprise’s features, such as electronic data interfaces, are making it possible for its business to continue to grow without requiring a significant boost to the company’s headcount.

CargoWise Vice President for Business Development - Europe, Simon Clark, said Simarco’s adoption of the WMS module within ediEnterprise is a tribute to the sophistication of the software and its capacity to integrate closely with agents, customers and other service providers.

“There is a strong corporate synergy between Simarco and CargoWise, and both companies have expanded substantially in recent years thanks to aggressive growth strategies, innovation and information technology systems,” said Clark. “Like many of our customers, Simarco has discovered the tremendous opportunities which are created when ediEnterprise is adopted by other agents across its network.”
