This month, WiseTech proudly welcomed the 2026 cohort into its Earn & Learn program - a group of ambitious, early-career technologists taking their first steps toward shaping the future of the industry.
Blending full-time work with university study, these aspiring software engineers will gain real-word experience while building the skills needed for a successful career in tech.
Fron day one, the energy was undeniable. To be selected for this program, these young people have already shown curiosity, capability and drive to learn exactly the qualities needed to thrive in today's fast-moving technology landscape.
Their journey began with an immersive onboarding experience, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how WiseTech operates on a global scale. Along the way, they met teams across the business and heard directly from senior leaders, including a welcome from CEO, Zubin Appoo and CTO, Brett Shearer (pictured above).
They also met co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer, Richard White. Together, these experiences offered early insight into WiseTech’s collaborative culture, values and long-term vision: to be the operating system for global trade and logistics.
Building core skills in an AI-first environment Following their onboarding week, the cohort quickly moved to hands-on learning, tackling real-world challenges and building core technical skills from the ground up.
“Working in an AI-first environment from day one, they're learning how engineers use AI to accelerate problem solving, enhance creativity and navigate complex systems. It's a future focused approach that's already making impact,” Louise Nobes, Head of Education explains.
Their impressive performance and mindset have seen several members of the cohort fast-tracked into teams earlier than expected - a reflection of both their potential and the strength of the program.
Several individuals from the latest cohort have joined teams ahead of schedule, showing both their capabilities and the effectiveness of the program. The Earn & Learn program is a key part of WiseTech's ongoing commitment to education and building the next generation pipeline of high-performing engineers.
By combining structured learning with meaningful, real-world experience, the Earn & Learn program opens doors for students to work on complex global challenges while developing skills that will shape the future of technology and global trade and logistics.
“These young people have been tinkering for many years. They're curious, capable and already contributing to real work, we’re excited to see how they grow,” said Chloe Wilke, Student Engagement Manager, who has been supporting the new engineers through their first weeks in the program.
“It’s been incredible so far. There’s so much to learn and it’s made me even more excited about working in tech and what’s ahead,” shares Ruby, one of the new Associate Software Engineers.
This group is building their skills for a new era of software engineering, one where AI is transforming how teams build, learn and solve problems. We're excited to follow their journey, sharing more in the months ahead.
