About the job
At WiseTech, we build the software that powers global logistics. From emerging freight forwarders to established leaders like DHL and FedEx, our software solutions allow users to maintain truly resilient supply chains.
As a Delivery Manager, you are a leader within one or more software development teams, responsible for helping your teams to be more productive. You do this through;
Management, coordination and facilitation of the team’s current operational workload, including;
- managing risks,
- proactively identifying and removing obstacles to progress,
- facilitating communication within and between teams,
- contributing to the team’s strategic roadmap, and then ensuring the team’s activities align with it, and
- influencing the team to maintain their focus on the highest priority work.
Investigating, identifying and implementing changes to improve the systems, processes and tools employed by the team to deliver their work, including;
- root cause analysis and evidence-based investigation into identified pain points and impediments to productivity,
- managing bottlenecks within teams by applying the 5-FOCUSsing steps, specifically:
Finding the bottleneck,
Optimizing the distribution of work to ensure maximum throughput at the bottleneck,
Collaborating, Coordinating and Curating work in progress to ensure smooth flow of work for the bottleneck and to ensure the team does not have an excessive build-up of work in progress,
Upgrading the constraint by adding additional resources or capacity, and
- contributing to defining, improving and implementing a standardized set of key practices within teams to ensure the entire organization can benefit from established best-practice.
As a Delivery Manager, you bring out the best in your teams.
You are someone with great interpersonal skills who wants to understand the challenges their teams are facing. You help people find common ground and help them to achieve outcomes beyond what they thought possible.
You are curious; you want to know how things work and enjoy thinking of ways to improve them.
You can adapt your approach to suit the demands of the situation. At some times, this may mean applying an analytical approach (i.e. gathering supporting data to justify a process change) and at other times, a people-focussed one (i.e. understanding the motivations of key stakeholders and finding ways satisfy them for a true win-win).
You are a leader, who unites people and makes sure they have the support they need to succeed. You see a job well done as its own reward, as building and maintaining trust with your team is essential to success as a Delivery Manager. You want your team to succeed, and have no trouble wearing different hats to accomplish this.
If you come from a process engineering, change management, or project management background then that’s helpful. However, we also know that brilliant people can come from unlikely places and that titles don’t define you. If you have a solid track record with strong, transferrable skills that fit what you’ve read so far, we want to meet you.
Our people are the foundations of our business, and we value the contribution and commitment they make. We have a range of benefits including a hybrid flexible work environment, development opportunities, employee assistance programs, and more.
