Senior Database Administrator

Design and support Oracle cluster databases for rate search analysis and workflow tools using WiseTech Global products. Participate in project management, design, data modeling and capacity management for WiseTech Global. Install and upgrade Sybase databases; design and implement corrective switchover and switchback plans in case of disaster recovery. Work with problem management team to analyze root cause of production database issues and implement permanent fixes. Create and maintain physical standby databases for all production oracle databases and implement Dataguard feature for service availability. Confer with application development and project management staff regarding project planning, resource allocation, and task definitions and schedules for database projects. Responsible for enforcing the data center operations security standards, policies and procedures, maintaining user and group accounts and managing access control for Sybase and Oracle systems. Responsible for supporting current production and non-production Sybase and Oracle databases, as well as for database design, deployment and operations for all critical new projects. Install, upgrade, and patch support database systems. Manage database system availability for applications and customers, ensuring that databases maintain agreed upon service level agreements, including performance tuning, capacity planning, code review, and trouble shooting. Identify and document existing processes and procedures. Responsible for providing design recommendations for database architecture. Perform optimization, fine-tuning, and scalability techniques, including clustering for mission-critical production systems on Linux OS platforms. Manage service and incident requests escalated from other internal teams. Responsible for incident and problem management around production systems. Develop, test, and implement database capacity planning, perform and, and monitoring scripts and processes for assigned databases and applications. Develop and implement disaster recovery procedures for multiple database systems in high availability (HA)/disaster recovery (DR) environments. Conduct knowledge sharing sessions with other technical development members in the organization. Provide Capacity analysis reports and data and recommendations for improvements. Responsible for install and set up Linux systems and servers, often for organization-wide deployment. Set up the architecture of the Linux system, including back-end databases and scripts for specific applications and use cases. Maintain system security by actively identifying faults and vulnerable areas within the Linux system's architecture. Monitor Linux system performance to prevent slowdowns and crashes. Conduct Linux system offsite backups according to company or industry standards. Responsible for installing the necessary procedures and security tools on Linux systems. Works with the Data Network Engineer and other personnel and departments to analyze hardware requirements and alternatives and make acquisition recommendations.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related field of study, plus four (4) years of experience in the job offered or a related position. Must have four years of experience in database systems architecture, oracle database administration, Linux administration, Sybase database administration, and Sybase replication administration.
