Community
Making a positive contribution to the communities we are part of is integral to the sustainability of our business and our social licence to operate. We hire talented people who have a passion to share their knowledge and want to help improve the industry and communities in which they live and work.
We recognize that as a technology company our business relies on technology and industry experts and, as such, we have always been a strong supporter and advocate of education and training in the broader community by supporting and investing in skills development, and through community outreach and volunteering.
WiseTech is a longstanding supporter of education and participate in a broad range of programs designed to encourage careers in technology, global supply chain logistics and the study of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects. Encouraging and supporting the next generation of innovation leaders has always been important to us.
We believe good, profitable technology companies really owe it to themselves to improve the future. They can do that by stepping into the education system.
We're passionate about supporting education because early exposure to the exciting and creative world of digital technology for young people is critical. Through this, we hope to encourage and empower the next generation of young people to work in tech.
Through our partnership with Grok Academy, we have an opportunity to reach into schools and help students learn valuable skills and understand the strong professional and economic drivers of a career in technology.
By taking a deep, grass roots approach we want to ensure all students, regardless of gender, economic circumstance or geography, have a positive technology experience at an early age, inspiring more students to embark on further technology studies and careers.
We’re calling on Australian tech businesses, technology focused associations, and the government to work together to help build a pipeline of tech talent through education initiatives that will help build our nation’s future. Through a targeted approach that starts in primary schools, and follows through to high school, tertiary education and beyond, we can all play a part in building a sustainable economic future for our communities.
Proactive community outreach and volunteering are also part of our culture and DNA. WiseTech provides Australian team members with up to 10 days per year of paid Voluntary Emergency Management Activities and Crisis Leave to participate in volunteering programs to address emergencies or natural disasters within the community.

Grok Academy
Grok Academy is an Australian educational charity that combines the longstanding Grok Learning platform and the Australian Computing Academy from the University of Sydney. Grok Academy is led by Dr James Curran, a writer of Australia’s Digital Technologies school curriculum. The Grok platform provides interactive classroom-ready learning materials and intelligent automated marking and feedback for students learning coding and related technologies.
Building on WiseTech’s decades of support for technology education, we will work with Grok Academy to support primary and high school students, parents, teachers, and other learners to gain computing knowledge and skills.
In a five-year partnership from FY22, WiseTech will contribute 1% of pre-tax profits annually to Grok Academy to transform the availability and quality of technical education in schools at scale. Our partnership provides free platform access to every learner in Australia, making curriculum-mapped learning tools accessible for every child and teacher. In addition, WiseTech has been a committed long-term Platinum level sponsor for the National Computer Science School (NCSS) Summer School and NCSS Challenge, an online coding competition to support the pathway for young people to strengthen their coding skills. The partnership will also enable new content and platform development.
By rolling out an effective technology platform that connects teachers, students, and parents to improve their capabilities at pace and scale, we are establishing and enhancing a long-term social impact program for WiseTech that tackles a critical societal and business challenge.
